 Dr. Richard "Doc" Ramos D.C. from Sedro-Woolley, WA went to be with his Lord on January 13, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 76.
He was born on July 6, 1932 in Denver, CO the son of Felimon and Virginia Ramos. He attended Denver schools and graduated from North Denver High where he attained high honors in the Army R.O.T.C.
He attended the University of Colorado where he was a pre-med major until a scooter accident left him unable to walk. After seeing a chiropractic physician, his ability to walk was restored and it was then that he decided to spend his life helping others with chiropractic. He enrolled in the University of Natural Healing Arts and graduated with a Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 1955. He concurrently attended the University of Denver and received doctorate degrees in both physical therapy and naturopathy.
Doc practiced chiropractic for two years in Denver before opening offices in eastern Colorado where he spent the next 36 years providing health care to others. In 1991, Doc moved to Skagit County Washington where he spent the rest of his career. He retired on November 14, 2008 after more than 53 years.
Throughout his years, "Doc" enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, photography and traveling on his BMW motorcycle. He especially enjoyed numerous hunting and fishing trips to Alaska. "Doc" was always ready to help and/or entertain with a quirky joke.
"Doc" Ramos is survived by his brother, Dr. Donald Ramos and wife Irene of Agoura Hills, CA; his sister, Ginny Peacock and husband Jim, of Surprise, AZ; his life-long friend, Howard "Buck" Buchanan and wife Connie of Golden, CO; the mother of his children, Lolita Ramos of Burlington, CO; his daughter, Randy Ramos of Burlington, CO; his sons, Don Ramos of Mount Vernon, WA; Dr. Richard A. Ramos and wife Brenda of Burlington, CO; Michael Ramos and wife Cyndi of Bridgeville, DE; Dr. James Ramos and wife Judy of Burlington, WA; Dr. Ronn Ramos of Burlington, WA; and Daniel Ramos and wife Sondra of Windsor, CO. His family also includes twelve grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren. He leaves behind his beloved Lady, Marguerite Braumbaugh. "Doc" also leaves behind many cherished friends, patients and colleagues.
"Doc's" mother preceded him in death when he was 9 years old. His father also precedes him in death in June 1986.
